The main aim of the project is to strengthen the interdisciplinary research team KLIMATEXT, which includes scientists working in the fields of mathematical statistics, climatology, hydrology and geography, in terms of close collaboration with research groups abroad that deal with similar topics. This allows for preparation of joint projects and publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and enhances quality of research in this field in the Czech Republic. Individual partial aims of the project include:

  • closer collaboration with research insitutes abroad, in terms of short-term and long-term stays of scientists, mainly at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), the Netherlands; Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain; and Center of Statistics and Applications, University of Lisbon, Portugal;
  • presentation of results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals;
  • co-ordination of research collaboration with research institutes and universities abroad, in terms of joint workshops and research projects;
  • organization of 2 conferences for the Czech statistical and climatological community: session at the Robust 2012 conference (held in September 2012), and conference on "Precipitation extremes in a changing climate", focusing on methods for estimating probabilities of heavy precipitation (will be held in Hejnice, northern Bohemia, in September 2013)
